Procedural Soundscape -Bad Signs
Generative Procedural Soundscape — 2025
Bad Signs was a generative soundscape i built in Max/MSP, exploring the intersection of electromagnetic phenomena and synthetic sound. The piece was an attempt to recreate the character of old sine wave generators while expanding their behavior through digital modulation and generative control.
It consisted of sine waves frequency-modulated by electromagnetic recordings(recorded with a DIY electromagnetic), arranged within a procedural sequencer that continuously evolved in unpredictable patterns. Its parameters were driven by custom random modulators inspired by Perlin noise, creating fluid and organic variations over time.
The sound was processed through a chain of harmonic delays with stretching delay lines, adding subtle spectral shifts and time-bending textures.
- Elements of Bad Signs were integrated into the Uncanny Valley installation I worked on.
